95% of chicken sold on the market are unwholesome

The Chief Executive Officer of Joerees Farms, Joseph Boakye-Yiadom, has revealed that a whopping 95% of chicken sold in big supermarkets in Ghana are unwholesome and harmful for human consumption.

He was emphatic that he has come to know the modus operandi of all of these big supermarkets in handling chicken products.

Speaking in an interview with Ghana Crusader, Boakye-Yiadom boasted of considerable experience having operated in the poultry industry for close to ten years.

“All these chicken products you see are not fresh ones, they are thawed chicken which are imported. Before they are put on display, they are soaked in blood solution and harmful additives are added,” he disclosed.

He added that the owners of these supermarkets purchased about 5% of locally-produced chicken and then mix them with plenty imported frozen chicken.
