We will reduce importation tax by 50% - Bawumia

The vice president, Mahamudu Bawumia has disclosed that government would reduce benchmark import values by 50%, while that of cars would be reduced by 30%.

The said reduction in importation charges would take effect tomorrow, Thursday, April 4, 2019.

Speaking at a town hall Meeting on Wednesday, April 3, 2019. the vice president said this directive is to help reduce the smuggling at the ports and also to enhance revenue.

“To reduce the incidence of smuggling and enhance revenue, the benchmark delivery values of import will be reduced by 50%. However for vehicles, the reduction will be 30 percent,” said the vice president.
