CEPS vehicle runs over police officer at Aflao

A Customs Excise and Preventive Service(CEPS) task force vehicle with registration number GW 8114-16, on Monday, April 8, 2018 ran over a police officer killing him instantly at the Aflao border.

The deceased, Sergeant Simon Nana Komla, who was with the Accident Squad of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) was riding towards the Aflao border when he allegedly hit a Hyundai Grace commercial vehicle.

The vehicle drove into his way and crashed him to death after landing in the path of the CEPS vehicle, said to be chasing a smuggler.

Superintendent Obrako Bempah, the Aflao Police Commander, confirmed the incident to the Ghana News Agency and said the mortal remains of the officer had been sent to Accra for autopsy.

He said the two drivers were in police custody aiding investigations.
