A man who was apparently trying to impress his girlfriends with his swimming skills has drowned in the Densu river near Koforidua in the Eastern region.
A 22-year-old man only identified as Kwame Iron as at the time of going to press, has drowned in the Densu river near Koforidua all because he was reportedly trying to impress his girlfriends with his ability to swim.
Starrfm.com.gh reports that the incident occurred on Monday, April 8, 2019 at Densuano, a suburb in the New Juaben South municipality.
Kwame Iron went to swim in the river with some ladies but drowned when he attempted to show his female friends how good he was in the water.
When they realised Iron had drowned, the women reportedly took to their heels.
The Densuano stretch of the Densu River has for a long time been a place where residents in the area go to swim. However, not many have been known to have drowned.
Yaw Kyei, a man who claimed to be a relative to the deceased told Starr News the deceased was not very good at swimming.
It was more difficult to understand why Iron would go and swim at a time the water level was high as a result of the heavy downpours being recorded in parts of the region.
The body of the deceased has so far been retrieved and deposited in the morgue while investigations continue.
