Information available to YEN.com.gh suggests that the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) has spent an amount of $8.5million on a two hundred acre of land located at Takoradi in the Western region.
As a result, the mines and energy committee of Parliament requested for the work plan of the company, which shows the objective behind the purchase of the plot of land.
Classfmonline.com reports that the work plan details an objective of establishing a petroleum hub to be operated by the GNPC.
The company has also budgeted $50million for co-investment with a selected partner to establish a company.
The aim is to identify a selected project such as an oil refinery fertiliser plant, petrochemical industry or a petroleum tank farm in the Western region to attract investors to the petroleum hub.
