Couple celebrating 84 years in marriage shares secrets to happy family life

A man and his wife who have been married for 84 years have shared the secret to their happy family life.

The couple have revealed what has kept them together for the 84 years that they have been married.

According to the couple, the secret to a happy married life is for the couple to be nice to each other.

"We don’t argue or have any fights. If we have a misunderstanding, we just talk it over," they disclosed.

The man, D.W and the wife, Willie Williams who are 103 and 100 years have recently celebrated their wedding anniversary and their birthdays, which were only a week apart.

The couple, who won the state’s contest for the longest married couple in 2014, said they enjoyed playing crossword puzzles together.

They also believe that communication is very important as they revealed that it kept them together.

The couple, who met in Newberry, South Carolina in 1935 and married in 1937, have one child and one grandchild.

Their daughter, Alice Erin, and granddaughter, BJ Williams-Greene, hosted a party at a First Mayfield Memorial Baptist Church, where they have been members for 19 years.

They celebrated the Williams’ long lives and marriage and sang hymns with their friends and family.

In an interview with their granddaughter, she revealed that her grandparents’ marriage is an inspiration.

She disclosed that they communicate and make decisions together, strive and achieve together and everyone loves them because they are genuine.

"They have had such a long, successful marriage because they put God first and are each other’s best friends," she said.

The life of the couple have been admired by many people who watched their beautiful life as they were celebrated.
