NDC declares 3 days mourning after former national chairman dies

A founding national chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Alhaji Ussifu Ali, has lost his life, YEN.com.gh can confirm.

The party has as a result, declared three days of mourning for the late Alhaji Ali, who died on Thursday, April 4, 2019.

Alhaji Ussifu Ali, who was one of the party’s first co-national chairmen, died at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital after a short illness.

“The NDC wishes to declare three days of mourning in memory of our former leader. During this period, all party flags shall fly at half-mast,” a statement issued by the NDC stated.

He was buried on Wednesday, April 10, 2019, at the Kasoa Ahmahdiya Muslim Cemetery after a short ceremony at his residence in Tesano, Accra.

Per a report by 3news.com, the final funeral rite, popularly known in Islam as Adua, will be held at his Tesano residence on Thursday, April 11, 2019.
