The flagbearer of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has reiterated his commitment to building a new ultra-modern market for the people of Mankessim in the Central Region if re-elected as president in the 2020 general elections.
During his 2016 campaign tour, Mr Mahama, as the incumbent president promised an ultra-modern market for the people of Mankessim if he was retained in office.
Speaking to the market women as part of his two-day tour of the region on Thursday, 11 April 2019, Mr Mahama said he had not forgotten his promise.
Mahama said at the time that the market would have among other things, a modern lorry park, but the NDC lost power in the 2016 election.
He said the market would be the best in West Africa and will be named the Mankessim market.
“I have not forgotten that we had a new design for the Mankessim market and we were preparing to construct a new market. We even put the design on display because when you talk of Mankessim, it is famous for its market, but unfortunately, we lost power. But when we recapture power in 2020, the market will be built,” Mahama said.
