Ghanaain actor John Dumelo has claimed that political parties cannot win power without celebrities.
John Dumelo expressed his views as he claimed that political parties will not be able to win power without involving celebrities.
In an interview with Arnold Elavanyo Mensah, the ace actor who doubles as a politician belonging to the opposition NDC party shared his opinion on Koku Anyidoho's earlier comments about celebrities campaigning for the NDC party.
“NPP went for celebrities, NDC went for celebrities so I think to some extent, celebrities influence the outcome of campaigns,” he noted.
"But at the end of the day, I don’t think political parties cannot do away with celebrities. I don’t think so,” John Dumelo added.
John's comment follows the announcement made by Koku Anyidoho that NDC will not allow celebrities to run campaign for them again.
When asked whether he will be instrumental on the ticket of the NDC in the 2020 general elections, John Dumelo responded in the affirmative.
It is however unclear to YEN.com.gh if John Dumelo by that response is revealing that he will be contesting for a top position on the ticket of the NDC.

Meanwhile, there has always been a rumor that the actor is willing to contest for the Parliamentary seat of either the Ayawaso Constituency or the Hohoe Constituency.
John Dumelo is from Hohoe and has most of his farms in Hohoe so many were guessing that he will prefer the Hohoe seat even though Ayawaso was the initial rumor published.
Others are of the view that John Dumelo will stick to contesting the Ayawaso seat since the Constituency has a lot of young folks due to the University of Ghana electoral area.
One other variable that convinced many is that the actor recently paid a visit to some female students in Ghana’s premier university.
Following his visit which brought him some backlashes, John recently had breakfast with some University of Ghana students of the Volta Hall.
