Short Commission calls for the dissolution of SWAT team at National Security

Portions of the report of the Emile Short Commission available to reveal recommendations for the dissolution of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team at the office of the National Security.

The Commission has suggested that members of the SWAT team should be reassigned to various security units after it has been disbanded.

According to a report by Graphic.com.gh, it again recommended intelligence sharing between relevant agencies in situations where an operation would entail or necessitate inter-agency cooperation.

It further added that the police must be well resourced “so that they can maintain active communication during the entirety of operations.

Providing equipment to only the leaders of an operation who cannot be everywhere at once leaves the flank unprotected and this would not inspire confidence in any of them.”
