About Time 100
Time 100 (often stylized as TIME 100) is a yearly list of the 100 most influential people in the world assembled by the American news magazine, Time.
The list was first published in 1999 owing to a debate among American academics, politicians, and journalists. The widely revered event is highly publicized.
While it is an honor to appear on the list, Time has stressed that it recognizes persons for their meaningful impact in the world, regardless of the consequences of their actions.
Influential individuals who make the list are exclusively selected by Time editors with nominations coming from the TIME 100 alumni and the magazine's international writing staff.
The general public selects only the winner of the Reader's poll, conducted days prior to the release of the official list.
