An unidentified man lost his life and 10 others were arrested, after a failed attempt by two groups of people to take charge of the Kintampo waterfalls.
Police officials in the Kintampo North municipality of the Bono East region revealed that the suspects are to be arraigned before a court on Thursday, April 18, 2019.
The suspects are said to be members of two groups of people, the Dega Land Association and the Mo Youth Association.
Per a Myjoyonline.com report, members of both groups have been demanding control of the tourist site that was renovated and reopened in November 2017.
On Tuesday, April 16, 2019, the youths struck, sacking the workers and claiming control over the collection of tolls at the waterfall.
The police stormed the site, were able to apprehend six ringleaders, and planned to transfer them to the regional headquarters in Sunyani.
However, angry youths besieged the police station armed with stones, cudgels and demanded the release of the suspects. Tension brewed and one of the leaders blocked the entrance of the police station with a vehicle and timber logs.

Holed inside the station, the police called for reinforcement from Techiman, who also enlisted the help from a military attachment.
The irate mob had however grown larger and angrier, blocking roads leading to the police station. Stone-throwing youths and road blockades encumbered the movement of the security forces.
While trying to remove logs, an armed man attacked a soldier, stabbing him in his left wrist. Others attacked the team of police and military officers, smashing the windscreen of the vehicle.
One man was killed and two were injured and the security team fought off the youths. The identity of the deceased is yet to be confirmed and the injured were taken to the Holy Family Catholic Hospital at Techiman.
He said the police retrieved talismans, amulets and knives from two of the suspects.
