President Akufo-Addo has shared beautiful photos of the ceremony to mark 20 years of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II’s reign on Sunday, April 21, 2019.

The president joined the people of the Ashanti Kingdom to mark the historic event, and described it as an amazing journey for the kingdom’s ruler.

He described Osei Tutu II’s reign as an amazing journey, with which he has firmly stamped his imprints on several aspects of the life of Asanteman and Ghana as a whole.

President Akufo-Addo added that as it is evident for all to see, he is convinced that his best years and those of Asanteman, and, indeed, of mother Ghana herself, lie ahead.

The Asantehene, in a speech, said, "throughout our journey, we have sought God's guidance and protection, and he had never failed us and so we must see some significance in the fact that our Adae Kese, commemorating the 20th anniversary of our reign, coincides with one of the holiest days in the Christian calendar, a day of resurrection, a day of hope and renewal for mankind."

He went on to say that "you only have to look at this unique assembly here today to feel the manifestation of the hope, and the renewal that beckons for our beloved nation."

For the first time in the history of Ghana, Asanteman welcomed a Yaa Naa from the historic Kingdom of Dagbon in the north and to the coastal Kingdom of Anlo.
