Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has paid glowing tribute to His Eminence, Sheikh Dr. Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu, as the National Chief Imam marks his 100th birthday.
The Chief Imam received words of blessing from far and near as he turned 100 years on Tuesday, April 23, 2019.
Dr. Bawumia joined other dignitaries and religious leaders at a special lecture organized to mark Sheikh Dr. Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu’s birthday.
The Vice President was joined by Archbishop Charles Palmer-Buckle and H.E. Dr Mohamed Ibn Chambas at the public lecture.
He later took to Facebook to pay tribute to the Chief Imam, praying to God to grant him long life.
“I joined Archbishop Charles Palmer-Buckle, H.E. Dr Mohamed Ibn Chambas and other dignitaries at a special lecture organized to mark the 100th birthday celebration of the National Chief Imam, His Eminence Sheikh Dr. Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu, in Accra.
“It is my prayer that Almighty Allah grants him long life and continues to be a blessing to mother Ghana,” Dr. Bawumia wrote.
The Easter Sunday visit was a symbolic gesture of friendship to solidify the existing inter-religious peace that Ghana enjoys.
The Chief Imam, who is a strong pillar and a symbol of unity and peace in Ghana, was received on arrival by the Parish Priest, Rev. Father Andrew Campbell.
