- Zinedine Zidane is reportedly set to offload goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois this summer
- Keylor Navas is expected to return as Los Blancos No 1 after winning three consecutive Champions Leagues under Zidane
- Courtois has conceded 42 goals in 32 matches since joining from Premier League side Chelsea
Zinedine Zidane is set to send Belgium shot-stopper Thibaut Courtois packing from the Santiago Bernabeu at the end of the current campaign.
According to UK Sun citing Mundo Deportivo, the Los Blancos boss, who is eager to rebuild the squad in the summer is not a fan of Courtois despite arriving from Chelsea for £35m last summer.
At the last count, the 26-year-old has conceded 42 goals in 32 matches so far.
The report further revealed that Zidane will also not be bidding for Manchester United star David De Gea as he wants to keep faith with Keylor Navas.
Already, under Zidane’s tutelage, the 32-year-old goalkeeper has won three consecutive Champions Leagues winners’ medal and the La Liga title in 2017.
Interestingly, with Navas now set to be handed the No 1 shirt at the Santiago Bernabeu, Zidane’s 20-year-old son Luca, will be the club’s back-up goalkeeper.
But Courtois is now left with a difficult decision about his future, with Chelsea sticking with Kepa Arrizabalaga as former suitors Paris Saint-Germain have also extended Gianluigi Buffon’s stay.
Earlier, Yen.com.gh reported that former Ghana international Michael Essien was set to feature in the Soccer Aid for UNICEF match between a select World XI team and the England.
Essien was expected to join some of his former Chelsea teammates to play against Joe Cole’s England XI.
