- Christian Chukwu has been given a cheque of $50,000 by Nigerian billionaire Femi Otedola

- Chukwu has been down with sickness in Enugu where he is currently receiving treatment

- The former Super Eagles handler will now be traveling to England in the first week of May

Nigerian business mogul Femi Otedola has handed the sum of $50,000 to former Super Eagles coach Christian Chukwu who is currently battling with unknown sickness in the hospital.

According to the latest report by The Cable, the money given to Christian Chukwu by Femi Otedola will take care of his medical treatment in the United Kingdom.

The report added that the former Green Eagles captain will be flown to England in the first week of May for treatment.

Philip Akinola who is the COO of Zenon Petroleum and Gas Ltd which is one of Otedola’s companies was reported to have given the money to Christian Chukwu in Enugu on Wednesday morning, April 24.

“The governor just called to thank me immensely and I spoke with Christian Chukwu too. He will be flown abroad next week. I told him he will be fine and I will make sure he is provided with the best health services,” Otedola told TheCable on phone.

Christian Chukwu is an household name as far as the Nigerian football is concerned considering his achievements in the Nigerian League and also with the Super Eagles.

He captained Nigeria to their first Africa Cup of Nations success in 1980 and also led his nation to win bronze medal at the 2004 Africa Cup of Nations in Tunisia as coach.

Earlier, Yen.com.gh reported that Ex-Chelsea star Diego Costa could leave Atletico Madrid this summer after refusing to train with his teammates.

According to the Mirror citing AS report, Costa has refused to take part in the club’s training after he was informed that he will be facing internal punishment from Atletico for the sending off at Nou Camp.
