Families of missing Takoradi girls to sue Daily Guide over false news

- Families of the three missing Takoradi girls have threatened to sue Daily Guide, a newspaper

- This comes after the newspaper had stated that the missing girls have been found

- Police officials have meanwhile stated that they are yet to confirm the location of the missing girls

The families of the three girls, who went missing from Takoradi in the Western region, have threatened to take the Daily Guide newspaper to court.

This follows a publication by the newspaper to the effect that the girls had been rescued and are in a secret health facility.

Police officials have meanwhile stated that the publication by the newspaper cannot be confirmed at the moment.

Per a Citinewsroom.com report, spokesperson for the families, Michael Hayford Grant, said the false reportage by the newspaper toyed with the families’ emotions.

“We are going to sue Daily Guide. We are going to take them to court because they can’t do anything like that to let the family collapse; we will take them to court. Mark my words, we will take them to court,” he declared.

Grant also denied claims that the police appointed liaison officers to keep the families updated with investigations.

This was after the police had said it appointed liaison officers to coordinate information between the police and the families of the kidnapped girls.

Alexander Kuranchie, the father of one of the missing girls, indicated that said he had been making calls to security agencies for clarity on the matter, but is yet to receive a response.

The girls, Ruth Quayson, Priscilla Blessing Bentum and Priscilla Koranchie, are believed to have been kidnapped between August 2018 and December 2018.

The main suspect in the kidnapping, Sam Udoetuk Wills, is currently before a court after he escaped from jail in December 2018, following his first arrest.
