- The Nsawam Medium Security Prisons recording more married couples as inmates
- The rate at which married couples are being jailed at the Nsawam prisons is alarming
The number of marital prisoners is at an all-time high, with many Ghanaian married couples currently finding themselves in jail.
This is according to the Nsawam Medium Security Prisons Chaplain, Chief Superintendent of Prisons Martin Padi.
He said married couples are increasingly being jailed in the country now than in previous years.
He expressed shock at the alarming rate at which married couples are being jailed at the Nsawam prisons.
Mr. Padi revealed this during a visit to the prisons by the Potters Temple, Israel, and the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC) on Saturday, April 20, 2019.
A report by the Daily Guide said married men and women were increasingly being jailed for committing avoidable offences against their spouses.
One of the main reasons for the recent fallout between couples was cheating, the chaplain noted.
He added that many Ghanaian couples are increasingly finding it difficult to forgive each other, hence harming themselves.
Mr. Padi, therefore, urged churches to preach more about forgiveness to couples in the country.
