Ghana’s Ntumi makes double history; wins medal at Africa Seniors Weightlifting Championship

Winnifred Ntumi wins her first medal at the Africa Seniors Weightlifting Championship, still underway in Egypt to ink her name in the pages of sports history in Ghana.

Ghana has recorded her first medal at the ongoing Africa Seniors Weightlifting Championship, with Winnifred Ntumi clinching bronze in the Women’s 49kg bodyweight category.

Winnifred made double history as the first Ghanaian to compete at the championship and also the first to win bronze at the African Youth Championship to add to her collection.

She's also the first Ghanaian female to compete in the sport.

Two females and four males are representing Ghana in 5 different weight categories.

Sandra Mensimah Owusu, who represented Ghana at the Youth Olympics in 2018 is set to also compete in the 59kg category on Friday, April 26, 2019.
