A sickly toddler who was captured a few years being attended to by a white woman is now a picture of health and happiness so much that his benefactor has decided to show the new him off to the world.
A weakly little toddler whose photo went viral thanks to the humanitarian help he was getting from a Danish social worker is now looking like a bundle of joy and energy in his new photos sighted by YEN.com.gh.
Anja Ringgren Loven, the Danish humanitarian worker who was pictured with the little boy, Hope, posted on her Facebook feed new photos of the boy she called her "little nugget".
Hope, according to ThisIsAfrica.me, was abandoned, and called a witch by his community in Uyo, Akwa Ibom, in Nigeria.
He was then rescued by Lovén and David Emmanuel Umem who run the African Children’s Aid Education and Development Foundation, a charity organisation dedicated to helping abandoned children.
The toddler was actually named Hope by Loven and her partner. They reported that they found him in a delicate state, owing to the inhumane conditions he was living in.
A year after his rescue, Hope made such a remarkable recovery, and started attending school, news which went viral on social media, and it was celebrated by many people across the continent.
Loven captioned the new photos of Hope: "From being branded a witch, abandoned, rejected and stigmatized to representing his school in 100 meters race.
Today, Hope is taking part in his school's Inter-House Sport Festival and of course he will be representing his team in the 100 meters race. See my little nugget he’s got swag"
Hope seems now to be a living testimony to the power of humanity.
The story of his life teaches that ultimately, we would have to help others in need, transforming lives by alleviating suffering, protecting life and health, and upholding human dignity.
