- Parliament has called on ministers to quickly respond to summons to the House
- This comes after two ministers failed to show up in Parliament to provide answers to matters pending
Members of Parliament (MPs) have expressed concerns after two ministers failed to appear on the floor of Parliament.
They therefore called on ministers to halt the holidaying and report for duties, as there are urgent matters to be discussed.
The calls came up after the ministers responsible for aviation, Kofi Adda, and agriculture, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, failed to show up to respond to matters raised in Parliament.
Speaking about the situation, the minority leader, Haruna Iddrisu said the ministers need to be reminded that the May Day holiday is over.
He said that taking into consideration the fact that important issues are to be addressed, it is imperative the ministers behave properly.
The Speaker of Parliament, Professor Michael Aaron Ocquaye, called on ministers to treat emergency sittings of Parliament with all seriousness.
Starrfm.com.gh reports that the majority leader and minister for Parliamentary Affairs Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, attempted to give reasons for the absence of the ministers, but was reprimanded by the Speaker.
