Aseidu Nkekia blames 2 EC officials for all of its challenges as 2020 elections draws near

- NDC's Johnson Asiedu Nketia has raised concerns about the actions of two officials of the Electoral Commission

- According to him, the chairperson, Jean Mensa, and a deputy commissioner, Dr. Bossman Asare, are causing problems for the commission

The general secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has argued that the posture of the current leadership of the Electoral Commission (EC) is a recipe for chaos.

Nketia, also known as General Mosquito, explained that the chairperson of the EC, Jean Mensa, appears to be interested in satisfying a particular group of people.

This, he went on, will go against the interest of the larger Ghanaian populace, and this does not augur well for the country.

Speaking at a symposium organized by the Koforidua Technical University (KTU) chapter of the Tertiary Educational Institutions Network (TEIN), he added that the entrenched position of the EC on some matters could have dire consequences.

YEN.com.gh earlier reported that General Mosquito also raised concerns about the silence of the media with respect to the actions of the EC.

In his opinion, the media’s silence does not augur well for Ghana’s democracy, and things could get unpleasant if it is not properly handled.

His comments follow altercations between the EC and the NDC at an Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting held on Wednesday, April 24, 2019.

Per a report by Ghanaweb.com, he stated that the EC’s attitude with regard a number of issues would cause problems as the 2020 election draws near.
