University of Ghana student butchered on campus

- Last Saturday, a level 400 student of the University of Ghana was seriously butchered by armed men

- He has been left with severe cutlass wounds

A level 400 student of the University of Ghana, Daniel Osei, has been attacked by armed men on the road leading to Evandy from Pentagon, a hostel situated on the University of Ghana campus.

The victim who sustained various degree of cutlass wounds on his head as a result of being butchered mercilessly, has been admitted at the 37 military hospital undergoing treatment according to sources.

Reports also suggested the armed men managed to flee after the incident.

Saturday, May 4, 2019 night’s near-fatal attack was one of many such incidents witnessed on the campus recently.

Some individuals, reacting to the incident on twitter, recalled similar instances where they have grappled with unwarranted attacks by criminals who constantly attack them on that particular road and also the road heading from UPSA close to PRESEC at night.

The situation, according to them has seen little or no change, despite police intervention, leaving them at the mercy of these bandits.

Meanwhile, Legon’s SRC president, Sylvester Amoako who has since responded to the incident says their team would visit the victim early tomorrow morning at the hospital to find out what actually transpired.

He has also guaranteed to enter into talks with the school’s management to plan on how security patrol can be deployed into such ‘dangerous’ areas so as to prevent the future occurrence of related events.

“Students are being encouraged to remain calm and prepare towards their exams as the SRC is working hand in hand with University Management to ensure the safety of all students,” the statement from the SRC read.
