Clean city agenda - Exiting prisoners deployed to clean streets of Accra

Ghana Prisons Service has begun engaging exiting prisoners to clean some parts of Accra to support government's vision to make Accra dirt-free and Ghana the most beautiful country in Africa by 2020.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Klottey Korle Constituency, Zanetor Rawlings is convinced that the Akufo-Addo government won’t be able to achieve its dream of making Accra the cleanest city in Africa by 2020.

According to her, rains and its accompanying flooding, make it obvious that the president’s ambitious vision was nothing but a facade.

That being said, the decision of the Ghana Prison service to engage the services of exiting prisoners to clean is quiet laudable.e

Ghanaians have however expressed their thoughts on the initiative by the Ghana Prisons Service with some saying it was a good initiative and others claiming that those who litter should also be made to do same .

Benjamin said they should also be used for farming activities a s well.

Rajj believes it is a step in the right direction.

Rudolf suggested that citizens who dumped rubbish anyhow should be added.

Gabriel says Ghanaians should help donate their bits to these prisoners if they see them working on the streets.

Okatakyie believes the initiative was good but Ghanaians needed a change of attitude.
