The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ghana, Professor Ebenezer Oduro Owusu, has announced plans to boost security on campus following an attack on a final year student.
The near-fatal attack by suspected robbers on Daniel Osei made news headlines on Monday, May 6, 2019 and provoked a safety campaign on Twitter.
Speaking to the media after visiting the scene of the attack on the Level 400 Psychology student, Prof. Oduro Owusu said a strong collaboration between the police and the university would improve security on campus.

“I have spoken to the National Security Minister. We will not take things for granted because we value human lives. When we roll out the strategies, we expect to cooperate with the Police. It is not going to be a nine-day wonder. It is not going to be a temporary thing. It will be something that we will work out for the future,” he said.
YEN.com.gh earlier reported how a level 400 student of the University of Ghana, Daniel Osei, had been attacked by armed men on the road leading to Evandy from Pentagon, a hostel situated on the University of Ghana campus.
The victim who sustained various degrees of cutlass wounds on his head as a result of being butchered mercilessly, has been admitted at the 37 military hospital undergoing treatment according to sources.
Reports also suggested the armed men managed to flee after the incident.
The police in Accra have however confirmed the arrest of one person suspected to have attacked the student and inflicted him with cutlass wounds
They have also began investigations to ascertain whether there were other suspects on the run.
