There was a drama at a morgue on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, as four women showed up to take custody of the body of a man they all claimed to be their husband.
According to information YEN.com.gh gathered, the incident happened at the Kerugoya Referral Hospital Mortuary in Kirinyaga County in Kenya.
The man Peter Mwangi, said to be a taxi driver (known as boda boda rider in Kenya) died in a road accident on Sunday, April 28, 2019.
When it was time for the collection of the body for Mwangi's final funeral rites, the women, Janet Wambui, Lydia Wanjiru, Susan Wakuthii, and one other said to be from Kimbimbi village showed up.
All of them came claiming to be the wife of the deceased and in the presence of the man's family and friends they engaged in a scuffle.
Try as those present did, the chaos could not be contained and it took an intervention from a police post nearby to bring the situation under control.
The police then ordered the mortuary attendants not to release the body until the fighting parties came to an agreement.
After some time, the women were prevailed upon to come to an agreement to allow the deceased's family to give him a befitting burial.
It was then, the women reportedly cooled down and allowed the deceased's uncle Mr Stanley Ngigi to collect the body.
A video from the incident sighted by YEN.com.gh showed a very chaotic situation.
