The Swedru Municipal Guard captured on video assaulting a 17-year-old boy has agreed to compensate the victim.
The accused, together with three others, were charged with assault and stood trial at the Swedru District Court.
Having pleaded guilty, all accused persons agreed to compensate the victim with a sum of GH¢10,000.
The accused persons are Peter Danso, Isaac Ntsiful, Sampson Aikins and Francis Yorke.
Graphic Online reports that they have also promised to monitor the health status of the victim for the next one year.
Also, they pledged their preparedness to take care of other medical bills that may arise.
During an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) sitting on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, counsel for the accused told the court that his clients are remorseful.
Lawyer Frederick Selby said the compensation would be paid on or before June 6, 2019 towards an amicable settlement of the case.
However, the victim was not in court to corroborate the submission by the counsel for the accused persons.
Presiding judge, Isaac Apeatu, subsequently adjourned the case to May 30, 2019.
Meanwhile, all the accused persons have already paid GH¢3,000 to the victim to support his medical expenses as a result of the assault.
