- Vice President Bawumia was in the region as part of his nationwide Ramadan tour
Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has begun his 2019 nationwide Ramadan tour, starting with the Oti region.
Dr. Bawumia began the tour on Friday, May 10, 2019, as he joined other Muslims to visit some mosques in the newly created region.
Muslims in the world and across the country began their 30-day fast in the month of Ramadan on Monday, 6 May 2019.
The Vice President visited the mosques of Dambai, Kwamekrom and Kadjebi, before also paying a courtesy call on traditional leaders and Muslim Ummah.
He took the opportunity to advice all Muslims in the country to continue to foster peace and unity among people with different faiths.
This, Dr. Bawumia said, is very crucial to the development of the country, adding that Muslims must also use the period of Ramadam to pray for President Akufo-Addo and his government to succeed.
Meanwhile, the chiefs and people of Dambai traditional area have expressed appreciation to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his government for the creation of the Oti Region.
A highly elated Nana Kwaku Beyenor, Omanhene of Dambai and the Nifahene of the Chonke Traditional Area in the Krachi East District expressed this feeling of his subjects when the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia called on him at his palace as part of his (Dr. Bawumia's) Ramadan tour to the Oti Region on Friday, 10th May, 2019.
"We were in slavery until President Akufo-Addo came. We will thank the NPP and President Akufo-Addo with our thumb in 2020. If we don't do that it will mean we are ungrateful ", Nana Kwaku Beyenor stated.
The chief also called for good health and God's protection for the President and the entire government.
