Young man who was "misled" into thinking Kantanka would give him a car sues car company

A disappointed young man who initiated a retweet campaign in hopes of getting 30,000 of those and then winning a car from Kantanka Automobile has taken the company to court over their refusal to give him a car.

A furore broke out on what is often described as Ghana Twitter after a user thought his appeal for 30,000 retweets would earn him a Kantanka car but after securing the retweets, it turned out the challenge to him was from a parody account, and now he is taking the actual car company to court.

Evidence sourced via @godfather_gh's Twitter account has it that the young man has lodged a complaint with the commercial division of the Accra High Court.

YEN.com.gh however, did not see any statement of claim in pursuance to the matter.

What was posted by the aggrieved young man whose name is apparently Jude Osei, was a writ notifying Kantanka Automobile Company Limited and Kwadwo Safo Jnr, its CEO.

The notification to the defendants was issued on May 14, 2019, according to the Twitter post.

In explaining what drove him to the point of going to court, Jude Osei wrote: "People who know me will tell you I’m quite the fighter and yes I’m a proud one. I really hope I can continue to inspire and motivate people with my life story and to let everyone, going through any difficulty know that LIFE is priceless."

YEN.com.gh earlier reported that the parody account, @kantanka_daily in May of 2018 challenged @godfather_gh to get 30,000 retweets so that @godfather_gh could get a Kantanka Mensah, one of the models of the cars assembled by Kantanka Automobile.

The challenged Twitter user then went to town on the platform, pleading with anyone who cared to help get to the number. Finally in February of 2019, the 30,000 retweets were reached by @godftaher_gh.

But @godfather_gh's excitement was cut short when the official Twitter account of Kantanka, @KantankaAuto, issued a disclaimer saying they had nothing to do with the challenge and that "Kantanka Automobile will not be responsible for any liability should this message be ignored."
