The 2019 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) comes off this Saturday, May 18, 2019.
This year's edition happens to be a special as it coincides with the 20th anniversary celebrations of the award.
One of the most coveted awards up for grabs on the day will be the Artiste of the Decade which seeks to crown the best Ghanaian artiste between 2009-2019.
The nominees on the list include Becca, Efya, Joe Mettle, No Tribe and Nacee, and Okyeame Kwame. Others are R2Bees, Samini, Sarkodie, Shatta Wale, and Stonebwoy.
While there are be 10 people on the list, many people have shortlisted it to the last four artistes.
With Stonebwoy coming out to declare that he is not interested in the award because he thinks Samini deserves it than anybody else, the list could be shortened to three main artistes.
However, ahead of the upcoming event, your favourite news portal, YEN.com.gh, conducted a poll as to who should win the Artiste of the Decade crown.
The contest was between dancehall sensation Shatta Wale and rapper Sarkodie.
At the end of the poll, over 3,000 social media users voted.
And per the result that came out, Sarkodie won by 60% as against Shatta Wale’s 40%.
Earlier, YEN.com.gh reported a story of Shatta Wale's former manager, Bulldog, making a comment regarding the artiste of the decade award.
According to him, the exploits of Wale in the last decade were so sterling and cannot me matched or emulated.
