- The police are said to have arrested Stonebwoy over commotion at the 2019 VGMA
- This follows earlier reports and his denial that he had been arrested
- The police reportedly invited Shatta Wale as well
Information gathered by YEN.com.gh has it that Stonebwoy has been invited by the police for questioning over the confusion at the 2019 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA)
According to a report sighted by YEN.com.gh on Citinewsroom.com, the arrest and invitation was made by the Accra Police Command on Sunday, May 19, 2019.
This comes after Stonebwoy denied that he had been arrested as was widely published by the media.
Shatta Wale was also said to have been invited in connection with the same issue.
However, it is unclear for now the charges that have been levelled against the two.
“We are not clear what the terms of the invitation are but it is related to yesterday’s incident. I have personally seen Shatta Wale who came in a few minutes ago."
"He was escorted by one of the senior officers at the station. I have been told Stonebwoy is here but I have not seen him personally,” Citinewsroom.com reported.
This new development comes after earlier reports that Stonebwoy had not been arrested.
He denied the report, saying the police rather escorted him to his gate to ensure that he was safe before they left him.
Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale had engaged in a fracas at the just ended 2019 VGMA when the former was announced winner for the Reggae Dancehall Artiste of the Year.
While Stonebwoy was still on stage making a remark after winning, Shatta Wale was seen walking onto the stage.
Stonebwoy's fans understood Shatta Wale's walk to the stage as an attack, so they initiated an attack on Shatta Wale.
However, Shatta Wale's fans also jumped onto the stage to fight for and defend their boss, leading to serious confusion at the event, bringing the show to a temporary halt.
The fans claimed that Shatta Wale had gone on stage to congratulate Stonebwoy, and not to attack him.
