Shatta Wale wasn't going to congratulate Stonebwoy - Father explains what happened

Shatta Wale’s father, Charles Nii Armah Mensah aka Shatta Capo, has narrated his own account of the fracas that ensued between his son and Stonebwoy at the 2019 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.

According to Shatta Capo, Shatta Wale was only trying to use use Stonebwoy's time on the stage to relocate to to the VVIP sat he had been assigned.

There was chaos at the 2019 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (#VGMA2019) after followers of Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale clashed.

Stonebwoy had been called on stage to receive the Reggae-Dancehall Artiste of the Year award beating Shatta Wale, samini, and others.

Unexpectedly, Shatta Wale who was seated in the crowd decided to show up on the stage during Stonebwoy's speech and it turned into a very chaotic situation leading Stonebwoy to pull a gun.

Later, it emerged on social media that Shatta Wale was going on stage to 'congratulate' Stonebwoy for his win.

But speaking on Hitz FM on Monday, May 20, 2019, Shatta Wale was not going to congratulate Stonebwoy as earlier circulated.

Shatt Capo explained that while the event was going he was in constant communication with his son who arrive at the venu late and the plan was for him relocate to the VVIP when the opportunity arose.

“I was sitting at the VVIP… he told me that he will relocate to where we are sitting but he is monitoring the atmosphere in the auditorium before he moves” he said.

Responding to criticisms that his son's movement sparked the fracas, he said: "from what I saw, he wasn’t walking up to the stage because I tried to find out, I didn’t know, and not knowing he used the award that was given to Stonebwoy and with the jubilation that went on.”
