Meet the 6 artistes who won their first-ever VGMA

On Saturday, May 18, 2019, music lovers converged at the Accra International Conference Center for the 2019 VGMA.

At the awards night, many musicians were awarded for their hard work through the year.

The likes of Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, Sarkodie, Kuami Eugene and KiDi won different awards.

However, there were some artistes who on the day claimed their first-ever VGMA.

Well, these are the six artistes who have won their first VGMA.

1. Medikal:

He broke into the music industry five years ago and in 2017 he had seven nominations but he went home without an award.

But in 2019, Medikal grabbed two awards at the VGMA. He won the Best Rapper of the Year and Hiplife/Hippop Artiste of the Year.

2. Diana Antwi Hamilton:

She went home with two awards on the night. Diana won the Gospel Song of the Year and the Gospel Artiste of the Year.

3. King Promise:

In 2018, King Promise was nominated but never win an award. He never got despaired and his hard work has paid off.

He named the Song Writer of the Year following his banger CCTV.

4. Yaa Pono:

The rapper has been in the music business but never won VGMA award before.

Yaa Pono will currently be the happiest man of earth as his single Obia Wone Master featuring Stonebwoy won the Hiplife Song of the Year.

5. Wendy Shay:

She shot into the music industry in 2018, and she has never looked back.

Wendy Shay was named the New Artiste of the Year after dropping bangers likes Uber Driver and Bedroom Commando.

6. Bethel Revival Choir:

The gospel group surprised many as they won the Best Group of the Year.
