Akufo-Addo summons Kwesi Appiah over Asamoah Gyan's retirement

It seems President Akufo-Addo is not happy about Asamoah Gyan's retirement from the national team.

Akufo-Addo has invited Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah to an emergency meeting at the Jubilee House over the sudden resignation of the captain of the senior national team, Asamoah Gyan, on Monday, May 20, 2019.

In a report sighted by YEN.com.gh on Graphic online, Appiah is expected to meet Akufo-Addo over Gyan's decision to quit the national team.

Gyan's retirement comes one month to the 2019 African Cup of Nation (AFCON) in Egypt.

In earlier report by YEN.com.gh, Gyan revealed the real reason behind his decision.

Gyan noted in a long and touching letter that he was recusing himself from any potential selection for the upcoming AFCON if he is denied the captaincy at the tournament.

He stressed that that he "could not pretend to be happy" over how unfortunate he believes he has been treated by sections of the media.
