- Asamoah Gyan is expected to rescind his decision to resign by close of day May 22, 2019
- The latest development follows President Akufo-Addo’s engagement with the Black Stars player
Black Stars striker, Asamoah Gyan is expected to issue a letter by close of day Wednesday, May 22, 2019, rescinding his decision to quit from the senior national team permanently.
A post on the Facebook page of the Director of Communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin, noted that the president wants Asamoah Gyan to “make himself available for selection by Coach Kwasi Appiah”.
Asamoah Gyan announced his resignation from the Black Stars on Monday, May 20 in a press statement suggesting that his decision was premised on a decision by the coach to deprive him of the captaincy.
But after a phone call conversation with the father of the land, President Akufo-Addo, Gyan is expected to make a u-turn on his earlier decision.
Meanwhile, Akufo-Addo on Tuesday, May 21 also had a brief meeting with the Minister of Youth and Sports, the President of the Normalisation Committee and the Chair of the Management Committee of the Black Stars on the team’s preparations ahead of the AFCON 2019 tournament in Egypt.
Gyan’s decision to call it it quit for the Black Stars generated several and mixed comments from the public, with some calling him “childish and ungrateful” while others think he was not dealt with fairly by the coach of the Black Stars, James Kwesi Appiah.
