Bawumia commissions 21 mechanised borehole system water project

The Akufo-Addo government in response to serious water problems faced by Ghana's Prisons as a result of overcrowding has handed over 21 mechanized borehole water systems.

The boreholes were constructed by government as part of the ‘Water for All’ programme to the Ghana Prisons Service. The mechanized boreholes are to serve prisons across the country.

The beneficiary facilities include the Forifori Camp Prison, Ankaful Camp Prison, Ankaful Maximum Prison, Ekuasi Local Camp Prison, Hiawa Camp Prison, Ahinsan Camp Prison, Ejura Camp Prison, Kumasi Central Prison, Duayaw Nkwanta Camp Prison, Kenyasi Camp Prison, Wa Central Prison, Navrongo Central Prison, Bawku Local Prison, Gambaga Local Prison, Salaga Prison, Kete Krachi Local Prison, Ho Prison (Female), Ho Prison (Male), Nsawam Prison (Female), Nsawam Prison (Female) and Koforidua Prison.

The extension of the Water For All programme to the prisons is to ameliorate the water supply problems of prison inmates and warders as water is very important in every human life.
