Popular reggae dancehall musicians Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy banned from the VGMAs

The board of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards have taken disciplinary action against feuding musicians Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy.

Charterhouse, organizers of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards have meted out punishment to two artistes who recently engaged in a scuffle at the 2019 VGMA awards.

According to the board, Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy have been banned from the award scheme until further notice.

In a press conference organized by Charterhouse on Thursday, May 23, 2019, the VGMA board announced their final decision.

“After carefully deliberating on the recent feud between Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy at the 2019 VGMA event, the two artistes have been banned from the award scheme,” they said.

“The two artistes will also be stripped off their various awards won at the just ended VGMA award event held on Saturday, May 18, 2019,” they added.

VGMA further ordered both Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy to return the VGMA plaques given them at the 2019 VGMA event night.

By their announcement, it means that Stonebwoy is no more the 2019 VGMA Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year and Collaboration of the Year.

On the other hand, Shatta Wale is no more winner of 2019 VGMA Highlife Song of the Year and Reggae/Dancehall Song of the Year.

It also means that Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy will not be awarded Most Popular Song of the Year and Artiste of the Year respectively since Kwame Sefa Kayi revealed the two awards are for them.

The VGMA board's decision followed the scuffle that occurred between rival musicians Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy.

The scuffle ensued after the 'My Level' hitmaker walked up on stage when Stonebwoy was receiving his award for winning the Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year.

The brawl which brought the grand event to a halt for about twenty minutes has been condemned by a lot of top personalities.

It has been said that the incident has brought the award scheme into disrepute, a claim that VGMA apologized for.
