The VGMA board has announced the annulment of the 2019 Artiste of the Year Award.
For the first time in the history of the most prestigious showbiz awards in Ghana, there will be no Artiste of the Year.
The VGMA board made this announcement on Thursday, May 23, 2019 in a news conference at the Alisa Hotel in Accra.
With this announcement, the late Ebony Reigns who won the 2018 VGMA Artiste of the Year still reigns.
The board’s pronouncement came after the fracas between Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale on Saturday, May 18, 2019, during the awards night.
It all happened when Shatta Wale and his team allegedly went onto the stage to congratulate Stonebwoy for winning the Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year.
Stonebwoy’s camp then thought Shatta Wale’s action was an attack which forced the Top Skanka crooner to pull out a gun.
It could be recalled that following the fracas that happened, Ebony’s father, Starboy Kwarteng, noted that his daughter’s spirit was behind the confusion.
Kwarteng also noted that, his daughter will still reign as the Artiste of the Year.
