Ghanaian shoe shine man with no legs wins World 100m race in USA

Despite having no legs to walk, Raphael Botsyo, a Ghanaian physically challenged man, is proof that disability is not inability after he wheeled himself to clinch first place in the World 100m race in the US.

Raphael Botsyo, a physically challenged Ghanaian athlete has conquered the world with his sporting skills to emerge winner of the T54 World Wheelchair 100m race in Arizona, USA.

After scoring a new personal record of 14.22, he automatically qualifies for the World Championships and makes history as the first Ghanaian Para Athlete to qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Born with no legs, Raphael Botsyo, grew up to be a shoeshine boy in Sunyani, with a self-made wheelchair.

He then moved to Accra when he got to know that there was a sport for disabled people after he discovered his passion for sports.

Few years after joining the disabled sports in Accra, Ralphael defied all odds and has since attained extraordinary feats for himself and Ghana.

He’s been a National Wheelchair Racing Champion, All African Games Champion, Commonwealth Games Champion and a multiple Olympian.

Raphael was captain of Team Ghana in the recent Commonwealth Games in Australia.

He has his own Wheelchair Sports Club, and picks disabled guys off the street to train them in wheelchair basketball, racing and others disabled sports.

On Friday, May 24, 2019, Raphael added to his tall list of achievements when he won the T54 World Wheelchair 100m race in Arizona, USA.
