Highlife artiste, Kuami Eugene has got Ghanaians talking after he was crowned by popular highlife artiste Amakye Dede.
Kuami Eugene has come under heavy criticisms after he got crowned by highlife legend Amakye Dede.
According to highlife musician Okurasini Samuel and some other entertainment pundits, Amakye Dede had no right to crown the 'Angela' hitmaker.
In his comments, he revealed that Kuami Eugene is not a good highlife musician to deserve such a great honor.
He noted that Kidi who is also a highlife musician is far better when it comes to the highlife, compared to Kuami Eugene.
Aside Okurasini Samuel, some other musicians and Ghanaians have slammed both Kuami Eugene and Amakye Dede.
In another interview with Hitz FM, highlife musician Nautyca expressed his frustration at Amakye Dede for his actions at the just-ended VGMA awards.
According to Nautyca, the action by Amakye Dede did not sit well with him because Kuami Eugene has not taken highlife to the level that he deserved to be crowned.
Some Ghanaians were of the view that there are more top highlife musicians in Ghana than Kuami Eugene so he did not deserve the crown.
Others were of the view that since there are so many highlife artistes in Ghana, one single person should not be crowned.
Those who criticized Amakye Dede accused him of being bias and probably received a bribe to stage such a crowning moment.
The brouhaha follows the crowning of Lynx Entertainment artiste Kuami Eugene as the new king of highlife.
At the 2019 VGMA, Amakye Dede, while performing, put a crown on the head of the 'Wish Me Well' hitmaker.
While he crowned him, Amakye Dede noted that Kuami Eugene is the one leading the new school when it comes to highlife.
According to him, highlife was almost fading away but Kuami Eugene led the race to bring the genre back to life.
