Meet the 5 new top notch players invited by Kwesi Appiah ahead of 2019 AFCON

On Wednesday, May 22, 2019, Black Stars head coach Kwesi Appiah named his 29-man provisional squad ahead of the 2019 AFCON.

The 29 players consist of three goalkeepers, ten defenders, eleven midfielders and five strikers.

The squad released by coach Appiah has five new players.

1. Kwabena Owusu

Owusu has earned his Black Stars debut call-up. The 22 year-old striker is among the five strikers invited by Appiah.

He plies his trade for Spanish side Leganes. Last season, he went on loan to Salamanca CF.

Owusu is currently one of the best players in the Ghana U-23 team.

2. Nuhu Musa

Musa signed a new term deal with ST. Gallen following his superb display during his loan spell.

The former WAFA SC defender caught the attention of coach Appiah with his defending skills.

3. Abdul Fatawu Safiu

The Kotoko striker is currently the best striker in the ongoing Ghanaian top-flight tournament.

He is a dead-ball expert. He joined Kotoko this season from Eleven Wonders.

4. Samuel Owusu

The Čukarički winger has carved a niche for himself at the Serbian side. He joined the European side in 2017.

He has featured 60 times, scoring 11 goals in the process. Before moving to Čukarički, he played for Vision FC.

5. Mohammed Alhassan

The Hearts of Oak guardsman is currently the most sought-after defender in Ghana.

He has earned a debut call-up due to his impeccable performance for the Phobians in the NC Special Competition.
