Man 'cries' over GHC 1400 he spent after his date brought her 2 friends to dinner

A seemingly harmless invitation to dinner from a young man to a woman turned out to be an experience that the man has gone on Twitter to complain bitterly about, because the woman brought over two other friends.

Ghana Twitter was turned into a place of wonder and jokes after a young man confessed that he once invited a woman on a date, only for her to show up with two other friends and he picking up a bill of GHC 1460 at the end.

@Silvalilly tweeted his sob story on May 28, 2019 as part of online discussions on women and their presence and contribution as partakers in nightlife in Ghana.

@Silvalilly quote-tweeted another, @Kuuku_, who complained that there were some women who despite having never bought champagne with their own money, love to order the most expensive things to drink when on dates.

Then the confession came: "Last two weeks I link up some girl for snap. Wey I say make she meet me for Mokas. As I catch there, she come with 2 friends. Dem drink 2 Hennessy + food by the time I lef there 1460. I catch house noorr wey I block am. [stuff] like this happens all the time, but how we do am?"

Almost immediately and in the character of how news spreads on social media, other tweeters started making fun of him, the situation and the women involved.

Others wondered why he would block his date's number after having showed off his financial prowess and most probably, impressing her and her friends.

@GarnetSKM tweeted in response: "You went out with drunkards. Its rather unfortunate, why you no block am for there naa?"

Another tweeter, @irenedontoh, asked: "But why did you pay for it? You shouldn't have. You invited only one person. & see what they were ordering too. Oh! Ladies. This is very bad on the part of the girls."

Similar stories about women taking their friends along to dinners means to be intimate were shared by men on Ghana Twitter afterwards.

Clearly, one could tell there is a more complex cultural and psychological explanation to women doing that.
