The office of the former president Jerry John Rawlings has denied reports that his mother, Madam Victoria Agbotui, had died.
Rumours went up on social media on the afternoon of Wednesday, May 29, 2019, that Madam Agbotui had died.
But according to office of the former president, Madam Agbotui was not dead and those reports must be disregarded.
In a statement from the Rawlings' office signed by Kobina Andoh Amoakwa, the communication director, Madam Agbotui "is alive, hale, and hearty."
Madam Agbotui who celebrated her 99th birthday in 2018 is expected to turn 100 years later this year.
Meanwhile, former president Rawlings has once again won admiration with his down-to-earth attitude.
In a new video sighted by YEN.com.gh, Rawlings was spotted trying to help some women prepare akple.
Rawlings approached the women who had put a big cauldron (dadesen) full of water on fire and were pouring the akple powder into it.
