In an apparent farewell ceremony for the senior national team before they embark on their campaign in AFCON 2019, President Akufo-Addo has called the Black Stars to play for each other and not for themselves.
The message from President Nana Akufo-Addo to the Black Stars before the African Cup of Nations in Egypt is for them to play with the nation and each other in mind and not for their egos.
The president made this known when a section of the team met with him at the seat of the presidency, the Jubilee House, in Accra on May 30, 2019.
“Team work is at the heart of every success, without it you cannot success, in football and as it is in every enterprise”, the president said.
The team leaves for their pre-tournament camp in the United Arab Emirates on June 1, 2019. The tournament in Egypt kicks off on June 25.
Newly appointed captain Andre Ayew and 15 other players were present for the event with the rest of the players expected to meet up with the rest of the squad in Dubai.
