- Sturridge is set to quit Anfield after the expiry of his current deal with Liverpool this summer
- The club confirmed the forward's imminent departure on Tuesday, June 4
- The former England striker has taken to social media to bid fans farewell
Liverpool forward, Daniel Sturridge, has confirmed his imminent departure from Liverpool this summer in an emotional goodbye to fans.
Sturridge has spent seven years at the club, having arrived from Chelsea in January 2013.
He went on to develop to become a hot prospect at Anfield, forming a lethal striking trio alongside Raheem Sterling and Luis Suarez that nearly won the Reds the Premier League title in 2014 under Brendan Rodgers.
However, he has found his opportunities limited in recent seasons, owing to injuries and Jurgen Klopp's preference of a different squad set up.
The German tactician prefers playing Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino in a front three, with Divock Origi also joining the fray as back-up striker.
As such, Sturridge is set to depart Anfield after an impressive career with Liverpool that saw him score 67 goals in 160 appearances for the club.

He has since taken to social media to send a special message to teammates, staff and supporters at Liverpool.
“You all played a part in making me the man I am today. This isn’t a goodbye cause Lord knows we’ll stay in touch no matter where I am so speak soon," he posted in a detailed message.
“I’m so happy I was a part of the clubs sixth Champions League win because all the fans have deserved it for all the support they’ve given me and club during my tenure. I wish you all the best in the future and more success for the club. Thank you for the memories," he concluded.
It remains unclear where the 29-year-old would end up next season, but a move to the Major League Soccer has been mooted.
Meanwhile, Gianluigi Buffon has announced that he will be leaving French champions Paris Saint-Germain thereby not returning for a second season at the club next campaign.
In July 2018, the Italian goalkeeper joined PSG and went on to make 25 appearances in all competitions for the club as they won the Ligue 1 title.
