Attacks on Police officers must stop – ASP Tetteh

The Assin District Police Commander ASP Isaac Tetteh, has called on the public to stop attacking security officers whose sole duty is to protect them.

According to him, the continuous unwarranted attacks on security officers would only end up demoralising the security personnel and their swift response to security situations.

He indicated that the populace must be educated on the dangers in taking the law into their own hands especially in attacking the very security personnel whose mandate it is to protect them.

Speaking to Starr News after he was attacked by some residents of Assin Dansami in an attempt to restore calm following a disagreement between officials of Ghana Water Company and some persons in the area, ASP Tetteh explained that the media must lead a serious crusade against such attacks as it was unhealthy for security promotion in the country.

ASP Tetteh said the continuous attacks on the men in uniform would only result in poor security as criminals would take advantage of the absence of the police in such places to perpetrate their activities to the disadvantage of the community.

He indicated that the public should rather support the police to protect them and not put impediments in the way of the police as they discharge their duties.
