After trying to vote in the 2006 elections, Nomathamsanqa Sweetness Swartbooi found out she was legally married to a man she had never met.
The man used her surname to open accounts, take out loans and even register two children who Nomathamsanqa does not even know.
Immediately after making the finding, Swartbooi immediately went to try and resolve the issue at Home Affairs. She said that the system was checked to indeed confirm the marriage. Speaking to EWN, she said that the department eventually dismissed her and her problem.
"I feel like I don't have an identity", she said.
After Nomathamsanqa had her second baby in 2008, she could not register him at Home Affairs. The child is now 11 years old and without a birth certificate.
"The person somewhere there is enjoying all that should be rightfully mine", she continued.
She can't register her marriage with her husband because of her compromised ID number. She even said that she is struggling to find work because of her ID and bad credit due to the loans taken out by the person she is legally 'married to'.

Just recently, YEN.com.gh reported that a Nigerian man git into a fight with a lady who refused his marriage proposal.
When she said no, the man making the proposal got angry and started bawling at her. She screamed back and their verbal exchanges attracted the attention of those around.
This video has generated a lot of reactions from Nigerians. Some of them blamed one of the parties or both of them for the proposal gone wrong.
