NDC's Ofosu Ampofo released after several hours of interrogation

After several hours of questioning and investigation at the Crime Investigations Department at the Ghana Police Headquarters, the National Democratic Congress'national chairman has been released.

A mammoth crowd gathered at the CID headquarters as they sang and chanted songs and slogans expressing their joy at release of the NDC national chairman.

YEN.com.gh earlier reported that the police had arrested the national Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Ofosu Ampofo in connection with alleged arson and kidnappings in Ghana.

According to a Joy News report, the NDC national Chairman was in the custody of the police at the headquarters in Accra.

The arrest came after the Mr Ampofo’s refusal to honour an invitation to report to the Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah, to assist in investigations into the recent spate of kidnappings and arson in the country.

Speaking after the release of Ofosu Ampofo, the general secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah said the government was using the security services to intimidate the NDC.

Some social media users have however expressed their opinions on the release of the NDC national chairman.
