The police have arrested four Nigerians after the rescue of the two Canadian nationals abducted in Kumasi in the Ashanti region.
YEN.com.gh understands that 14 people were involved in the abduction of the victims, an incident that occurred on June 4, 2019.
Ghanaian security operatives have meanwhile rescued the Canadians after an exchange of gunfire with the abductors.
Dailguidenetwork.com reports that the per a statement from the ministry of Information “National security operatives, in the early hours of Wednesday 12 June 2019, completed an operation which successfully rescued the two (2) Canadian women recently abducted in the Ashanti region.”
The statement further added that details of the operation, as well as continuous efforts to ensure that similar incidents are dealt with, would be soon disclosed at a press briefing.
The government has meanwhile taken the opportunity to assure Ghanaians as well as travellers that the country remains safe.
