A gory accident on the Otorkpolu-Odumase Krobo road in the Eastern Region has led to the death of seven persons.
According to a report by Accra-based Citi FM, the deceased persons were part of a group that was reportedly returning to Akosombo from a funeral at Akim Oda.
They were reportedly aboard a VRA Daewoo bus with registration Number GV 2497-14 when the accident occurred.
The gory accident is reported to have happened at about 8 pm on Saturday, June 15, 2019.
The driver of the bus is reported to have lost control of the steering wheel while negotiating a curve near Ashitey.
Having veered off the road, the bus ended up in a ditch after somersaulting several times, the report said.
A joint team of police and fire service personnel from Odumase and Somanya rushed to the scene to help save the situation.
Despite managing to convey the victims to the hospital, seven persons were confirmed dead upon arrival.
Meanwhile, 14 other persons are in critical condition after sustaining various injuries and are currently receiving treatment at the Atua Government Hospital.
The St. Martins De Porres Hospital and the Agormanya Government Hospital are also treating the other victims of the accident.
